Mrs. Schaefer joined Mayson Capital Partners, LLC (Mayson Capital) in 2014. Mayson Capital Partners (Mayson Capital) is a private investment firm based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mayson Capital’s core investments include convenience stores, hotels, and a commercial real estate portfolio. Other investments include a community bank, a general contracting business, restaurants, and a technology-driven self-storage business. Mayson Capital also allocates capital to venture investments with opportunities for disrupting industries and generating significant growth.
Mayson Capital leads investments with its own capital. Additional funds are raised from a network of high net-worth individuals on a deal-by-deal basis. This approach allows flexibility with deal structures and tends to yield more patient capital while portfolio businesses carry out their business plans.
Prior to working with Mayson Capital, Mrs. Schaefer gained diversified knowledge and vast experience in accounting and management through her career in public accounting, healthcare management, and private industry. As the controller for a wholesale fabric distribution company she gained experience not only in the traditional cost accounting and inventory, investment, and fixed asset management areas, but also gained knowledge of international sales, shipping, and banking. She was a key team member responsible for the implementation of a new ERP system. As the administrator for a multi-physician specialty practice, she acquired vast experience in the healthcare field including contract negotiation with insurance companies, vendors, and providers, development of policy and procedures with regards to patient care and staff performance and expectations. The many years she spent in public accounting provided a foundation of knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation and presentation, forecasting and budgeting, along with experience in tax preparation – payroll, sales, individual and corporate. At all positions she has been a proven leader providing strategic guidance and direction for all aspects of the organizations accounting and reporting operations, asset, benefit and investment management, and policy implementation.
Mrs. Schaefer earned her B.S. in Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She passed the uniform certified public accountant examination while practicing in public accounting. She proved her competencies in medical practice management becoming certified through the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Through her years of experience in a variety of areas in accounting, she has earned her designation as a certified global management accountant. Mrs. Schaefer has found leadership roles for many years through coaching her children when they were young in several sports, as well as holding officer and director positions with several civic, healthcare, and church affiliated organizations. She was also co-chair for a fundraising committee for a $1.5 million parochial school expansion. She maintains active professional memberships in MOCPA and AICPA, and continues to serve many civic organizations.
Patty resides in Scott City, Missouri with her husband, Ron, who has taught automotive technology for over 30 years. They take pride in the character and accomplishments of their children and their spouses. Trips to see their children and grandchildren are highlights for them as they truly are their greatest blessings.
